Employee Suffers Amputation of Finger Using Circular Saw

At approximately 7:55 a.m. on July 15, 2005, Employee #1, a journeyman carpenter, was operating his personally-owned Skill-Saw (Model Number HD77M) with a 7.25-in. carbide tip blade, to cut a 4-in. by 4-in. handrail post for a wooden stairway. Employee #1 was cutting the post at an angle while holding the post with his left hand when he heard a noise and notice he inadvertently cut off his left pinky finger at the knuckle. Employee #1 was treated for his injury but was not hospitalized.
