Employee Is Injured In Fall From Joist

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on February 27, 2004, Employee #1 was engaged in the erection of forms for a single level parking structure. A crew had erected shoring and stringers and placed joist on top of the stringers for a cap box. While spreading the shores, several joists were not overlapping the stringers. Employee #1 walked out onto the 4-in. by 4-in. joists to reposition them when he felled approximately 10 ft to a concrete surface. Employee #1 received injuries to his back, and right leg and was hospitalized for approximately three days.
