Event: 02/11/2004
Driver fractures ankle falling from truck

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on February 11, 2004, Employee #1 was driving a double-trailer semi-truck hauling filled wine barrels and pulled off the highway when he saw one of the hold down straps was loose. He climbed up onto the bed of the second trailer to free the strap from between barrels to reposition it on top of the load. The strap came free unexpectedly. The employee lost his balance and fell over backwards off the truck bed, about 4 ft to the ground and landed on his foot, dislocating and fracturing his left ankle.
