Employee injured after his tractor rolls-over

At approximately 8:00 a.m. on October 26, 2002, Employee #1 of Turley Wine was driving a narrow gauge wheel tractor, with a seed drill attached to the rear of the tractor. The tractor was a Kubota Model M5400DT-N, 54 horsepower, Number F2802-A. As he rounded a turn at the end of a vine row, the tractor rolled over when turning down hill. The tractor roll bar was folded down in a horizontal forward storage position, exposing the Employee #1 to roll over hazards. Employee #1 was an experienced, trained tractor operator working alone on the remote hillside vineyard but was assisted and accompanied by a friend, a non-employee. Employee #1 was hospitalized for 36 hours where he was treated for broken ribs and a collapse lung.
