Employees injured when overloaded crane falls onto scaffold

Employees #1 through #7 were on an 8 ft high scaffold erecting a concrete block wall when a Link Belt 40 ton crane, lifting a steel framing member that weighed approximately 6,000 lb, tipped over onto the scaffold after the operator lost control. The crane, serial #64H8-862, was owned and operated by Williams Equipment Corp. Employee #1 sustained a fractured left scapula and back injuries. Employee #2 also sustained a lower back injury. Employees #3 through #6 sustained bruises and lacerations. Employee #7 sustained lacerations to the head and legs. The crane was overloaded.
