Investigation Summary
At approximately 3:00 p.m. on July 18, 1996, Employee #1 was preparing to install sheet metal air conditioning ducts in the engine room of the offshore drilling rig Asteca, located near Port Arthur, at Texas Dry Dock, Sabine Pass. Employee #1 and his supervisor were discussing where and how to start the job when Employee #1 collapsed. He was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Port Arthur, TX, where it was determined that he had suffered a heart attack. Employee #1 died.
