BURN - ELECTRICAL FAULT IN UNDERGROUND POWER LINE

A utilities superintendent for a contractor was in a trench working on some underground power lines. He thought that all the lines were abandoned and deenergized. He cut an energized 7200-volt cable with a pair of bolt cutters and caused an electrical fault. The ensuing electric arc ignited the employee's clothing, causing extensive burns to several parts of his body. He was hospitalized for his injuries.
