Investigation Summary
Employees #1 and #2 and a coworker were in a 1996 Ford Explorer, traveling eastbound on Highway 2, at or near the posted speed limit. The driver lost control and the vehicle began sliding on the icy road. It crossed over into the westbound lanes and was broadsided on the passenger side by a Dodge truck. Employee #1 was wearing a seatbelt, but was ejected out the rear of the vehicle and was killed. Employee #2 was riding in the front passenger seat and was partially ejected. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died.
