Fall Kills Employee

Employee #1, a laborer, was helping carpenters install decking material (joist and rim-board) for the second floor balcony of an apartment complex. Employee #1 was positioning the rim-board on the outside edge of the deck joists. Employee #1 moved to hold the rim-board, which cantilevered approximately 8 in. out from edge of building, and fell head first approximately 10 ft 11 in. to the ground. Employee #1 suffered a broken wrist with a bone protruding and a broken neck. Employee #1 was killed.
