Employee's fingers amputated in press but reattached

At approximately 6:40 a.m. on June 28, 1991, Employee #1 reached into the point of operation with his right hand to remove parts from a Niagara part-revolution press, serial #44060. The press continued another stroke and caught three fingers, amputating the index and middle fingers and crushing the ring finger. Because of rapid medical attention, the middle and ring fingers were saved and reattached. Employee #1 was hospitalized for one week.
