Investigation Summary
Two steel workers were acting as ground men for the unloading of eight tractor trailer loads of material for a pre-engineered building project. The crew was using a Commercial truck crane and steel woven slings to unload the material. The crane was unloading the last two trucks, which contained standing seam roof sheets up to 50 feet long. The planned destination for the roof sheets was located under a 7600-volt overhead power line that was 34 feet, 4 inches above the ground. The two steel workers were guiding the load into position when the crane's load line contacted the overhead power line. Both employees were electrocuted.
