Employee injured in fall from roof edge

Employee #1, of Cal-Paac Roofing, was working 17 ft 5 in. high on a roof edge with about a 4:12 slope. He fell to the concrete patio, sustaining multiple fractures to his pelvis and left arm. Employee #1 was a new employee, not yet trained in roof hazards. Employee #1 was not required to wear a safety belt and lanyard.
