Employee's fingers amputated in chipper

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on October 24, 1990, Employee #1 was examining a Chipmore chipper that, although under power, was not operating. He was rotating the cutting drum with his right hand to see if something was stuck in it when the index and middle fingers on his right hand were amputated at the first knuckle. Employee #1 was driven to Goleta Valley Hospital by his supervisor.
