EMPLOYEE INJURED AS RACKS FALL OVER

EMPLOYEE #1 AND 5 OTHER WORKERS WERE IN THE PROCESS OF ASSEMBLING A SERIES OF 7-FOOT HIGH METAL STORAGE RACKS. THE ASSEMBLY INVOLVED 6 ROWS OF 6 UNITS OF 12-INCH BY 36-INCH BACK-TO-BACK RACKS. EMPLOYEE #1 WAS POSITIONED BETWEEN THE LAST BACK-TO-BACK ROW IN ORDER TO BRACE ALL THE RACKS. SUDDENLY, THE ROWS OF RACKS TIPPED OVER, STARTING FROM THE FIRST ROW ALL THE WAY TOWARDS THE SOUTH WALL OF THE WAREHOUSE. EMPLOYEE #1 SUFFERED A BROKEN RIGHT WRIST WHEN HIS RIGHT HAND WAS PINNED BETWEEN THE FALLING RACK AND THE WALL. THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT WAS THE FAILURE TO BRACE THE RACKS AS THE ASSEMBLY OF EACH UNIT PROGRESSED.
