Employee injured in 38 ft fall from structural beams

At approximately 10 a.m. on November 5, 1990, Employee #1 and a coworker, of Riverside Steel in Santa Fe Springs, CA, were on the third floor of a building under construction, welding skeleton structure beams. The two workers were about 25 ft apart. Employee #1 was transferring a welding lead to his coworker when he lost his balance and fell 38 ft (2 floors). He suffered a fractured right wrist and femur, and a concussion. He was first taken to USC Medical Center, and then transferred to Centinela Medical Center for treatment. The job foreman was present ,but did not witness the accident.
