Investigation Summary
Employee #1 was a plasterer working on scaffolding on the side of a 75 ft tall building. The scaffolding was properly guarded by handrails and x-braces, which were treated as midrails. The end-frames were guarded only by handrails. When Employee #1 attempted to climb from the scaffolding to the stair landing on the building he fell from the third level of scaffolding, sustaining facial fractures and multiple contusions. Employee #1 has no memory of the accident and there are no witnesses as to whether he swung under the handrail to try to reach the stair landing.
