Investigation Summary
At approximately 12:00 noon on October 20, 1990, Employees #1 and #2, of Earl Electric Company, were digging a 4 ft wide by 15 ft long trench that varied in depth from by 42 to 53 in. The trench undermined the unsupported sidewalk, which caved in on them. Employee #1 suffered head and shoulder injuries, and Employee #2 suffered injuries to both legs. They were transported to South Bay Hospital for treatment.
