Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170162150
Event: 04/01/1992
Employee's eye injured when splashed with lacquer thinner

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on April 1, 1992, Employee #1 was cleaning graffiti on some outdoor benches and lunch tables with a cleaner and water, without success. Her supervisor told her to use lacquer thinner and water, so she went into the supply room and poured some lacquer thinner into the mop bucket, and added some water. She then angrily dropped her mop into the bucket, causing the contents to splash into her eyes. She flushed her eyes immediately with water, was given medical treatment and an eye patch, and sent home. Employee #1 was not provided with eye protection. The employer was cited for violation of T8CCR 3382(a).
