Employee's leg fractured when struck by spar

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on December 4, 1990, Employee #1 was walking west between buildings #3 and #5. A tug was rolling a spar dolly nearby, and two other tugs were escorting the spar at the rear, one on the north side and one on the south side. Employee #1 entered the space between the spar and the tug and suffered a fractured right leg when he was struck by the spar. No violations of safety orders were found. Employee #1 had been given a verbal warning before he entered between the spar and the tug.
