Employee is severely cut and lacerated by conveyor belt

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on January 30, 1993, Employee #1, of National Brass, Inc., was working below floor level at the south end of a tunnel, shoveling sand onto a flat conveyor belt that leads to an elevator. He inserted his hand behind the guard to the conveyor belt and severely cut and lacerated his left arm. He was taken to USC Medical Center and hospitalized for 4 weeks. Currently, he is being treated as an outpatient. The employer was advised to train the employees and to enforce safety rules and regulations to prevent future accidents.
