Employee's hand cut when struck against blade

At approximately 10:45 a.m. on January 19, 1992, Employee #1, of the Vons Companies, Inc., was cutting meat using a table-mounted Butcher Body meat cutting saw in the meat cutting department of the Tianguis store in El Monte. Employee #1's left hand hit the saw's moving blade and his third and fourth fingertips were cut and lacerated. He was taken to Foothill Medical Clinic by a fellow employee for treatment. The power control lever on the machine was not identified and had no ON and OFF positions marked on it. Employee #1 could not be interviewed.
