Employee's thumb cut by double-tripping press

Employee #1, of CKD Engineering & Manufacturing, was operating a 60-ton punch press stamping electrical motor housings when the press double tripped, cutting the tip of his right thumb. Employee #1 had been instructed to install and remove the motor housing with his thumb and fingers at the sides, for added protection. The cause of the double tripping was unknown.
