CONSTRUCTION EMPLOYEE INJURED WHEN STRUCK BY FALLING POST

AT ABOUT 12:30 P.M. ON JUNE 29, 1992, EMPLOYEE #1, A 37-YEAR-OLD LABORER, RECEIVED MINOR CONTUSIONS AND ABRASIONS ON HIS LEFT SHOULDER WHEN HE WAS STRUCK BY A FALLING 8 BY 8 POST. THE POST WAS BEING POSITIONED TO SUPPORT A ROOF BEAM WHEN ANOTHER EMPLOYEE, WHO WAS HOLDING THE POST WITH ONE HAND, ATTEMPTED TO PICK UP A TOOL. THE POST THEN FELL, STRIKING EMPLOYEE #1'S LEFT SHOULDER. 911 WAS CALLED. EMPLOYEE #1 WAS TREATED AT THE HOSPITAL FOR MINOR CONTUSIONS AND ABRASIONS AND WAS RELEASED TO RETURN TO WORK.
