Employee's finger amputated by cutting head knives

Employee #1, the set up man in the molding department, was finishing jointing the head on a wood molding machine. Jointing is the sharpening and aligning of the eight cutting knives on the cutting head. Employee #1's right hand was putting a little pressure on the jointer and he felt that the knives were sharpened. He was about to turn off the machine when his right hand slipped down into the revolving knives. Employee #1's right little finger was severely lacerated and more than the last two joints of the finger were amputated.
