Employee's hand lacerated when power saw kicks back

Employee #1, of Surco Development, Inc., was cutting a piece of wood to be used as a fire block. The block had to be notched to accommodate a pipe in the wall. He was holding the wood in his left hand and operating the power saw with his right when the saw kicked back. He sustained lacerations to his left hand.
