Employee killed when caught in hay baler

Employee #1, an experienced baler for Russell Brothers Rancher, Inc., was operating a hay baler powered by an internal combustion engine. The foreman last saw him at work at 9:30 a.m. Some time later, he saw the baler stationary in the field, but did not see Employee #1. When he went to investigate, the foreman found the baler running and Employee #1 caught inside. He was killed. Employee #1 had been instructed to turn off the machine if it jammed. The employer was cited for a violation of T8CCR 3314(a).
