Employee hospitalized when aerial boom controls malfunction

Employee #1 was painting from an articulating aerial boom approximately 18 ft above the ground when the mechanical controls malfunctioned. He was standing in the basket trying to move the basket one way when the controls responded by moving it another way, trapping and crushing Employee #1 in a scissor action between the building structure and the personnel basket. He was hospitalized.
