Employee swallows sulfuric acid solution

Employee #1 was siphoning a 10 percent solution of sulfuric acid from a shipping container. He used his mouth to start the flow of acid, instead of an electric pump. A small quantity of the acid ran into his mouth and he swallowed some. He rinsed his mouth repeatedly and drank large quantities of water. He went home, called the emergency room, and was told to come in for an examination and to stay overnight for observation. No internal injures were sustained, and he was released the following morning. This accident resulted from Employee #1 not using the proper equipment for the job.
