Employee's finger amputated in chain/sprocket drive

At approximately 12:10 a.m., on June 4, 1994, Employee #1, of Kern Ridge Growers, was cleaning debris from the cull conveyor belt when he lost his balance. To prevent himself from falling onto the equipment, he reached out to grab something and his right hand was caught in an unguarded chain and sprocket drive. Employee #1 suffered a partial amputation of his right index finger. He was treated at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, CA, and released.
