Employee's hand crushed between wall and bar on forklift

Employee #1, of Valley Fresh, Inc., was operating a forklift. He stopped the lift to speak to a coworker. Employee #1 placed the lift in neutral and left the key in the ignition. The forklift suddenly started to move backward. As Employee #1 attempted to steer the lift as it moved backward, his left hand, which was resting on the roll cage bar, was smashed between the bar and a wall. Apparently, the forklift's electrical system, which is maintained by Hyster, malfunctioned.
