Investigation Summary
At approximately 11:30 a.m. on March 25, 1992, Employee #1, an electrician's helper, was in a 4 ft deep by 24 in. wide trench gluing a 10-foot section of 5 in. diameter PVC power utility conduit. A 6 lb, 2 ft by 4 ft section of adobe soil fell on him. He suffered a fractured pelvis and lost consciousness. His supervisor and four coworkers rescued him and administered mouth-to-mouth resuscitation while 911 was called. Employee #1 regained consciousness and was transported by paramedics to a local hospital.
