Employee injured when hand caught in hot molding machine

At about 5:25 a.m. on October 9, 1991, Employee #1 was removing material from the bottom of the cooling tank on a molding machine used to make disposable medical thermometers. The 500 to 600 degree F machine cycled and his right hand became caught between the mold fingers and the tank. Employee #1 sustained burns and crushed ligaments in his right wrist. His supervisor took him to a local hospital for treatment; he was later transferred to a local burn center.
