Employee amputates fingertip in bottle trimmer

At approximately 11:15 a.m. on August 8, 1990, Employee #1 was trimming plastic water bottles on the 5-gallon slide when he noticed a jam on the adjacent 1-gallon Arrowhead line. He did not shut off the machine prior to reaching into the point of operation to clear the jam, and the tip of his left little finger was amputated. Employee #1 was taken to the Medical Center via Kaiser for treatment. He was hospitalized for less than 24 hours.
