Event: 11/05/1992
Employee's leg cut by portable power saw

At approximately 11:50 a.m. on November 5, 1992, Employee #1 was using a Skil saw to cut wood siding for a house. The saw guard was wedged open when the saw slipped and cut his leg. Employee #1 was hospitalized for less than 24 hours. (The initial accident report from the fire department said that the saw guard was jammed open. Subsequently, Employee #1 stated that the guard was closed and the power was switched off with the saw blade free wheeling. As he turned around looking for a place to set the saw, the blade cut his leg.)
