Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170183040
Event: 12/21/1991
Employee's finger punctured by embroidery needle

Employee #1 was a sewing machine operator who embroidered 12 baseball-type caps simultaneously through computer controlled tapes. When a thread breaks in one of the 12 units, all units automatically stop. Employee #1 had just replaced a broken thread in one of the embroidery needles. After rethreading the unit, the machine was restarted. When Employee #1 noticed the cap on one unit raising up, she placed her hand next to the crown of the cap and her finger was punctured by one of the embroidery needles. The needle broke off in her finger, requiring medical treatment.
