Employee's pelvis fractured while descending wall

At approximately 11:15 a.m. on December 31, 1990, Employee #1 was at a height of approximately 20 ft in the headworks area of building #011. Instead of using a ladder or the stairs, he decided to use the rebar to climb down from the headworks. After he had descended a few feet, he lost his footing and fell approximately 20 ft to the ground. He landed on his buttocks, fracturing his pelvis in two places. He was working alone at the time of the accident and used his radio to call for help. Employee #1 was not wearing any kind of fall protection. The employer was cited for a serious violation of T8CCR 1509(b) and T8CCR 1670(a).
