Investigation Summary
At approximately 10:50 a.m. on June 19, 1991, a 47 ft hemlock tree with a 9 in. diameter at the butt was undercut and back cut, then leaned against a standing timber on the right of way edge. A log being swung by a shovel bumped the tree and it fell, striking Employee #1, a chaser, on the head. He sustained serious head injuries and was airlifted to Olympic Memorial Hospital and then to Harborview Medical Center.
