Employee's fingertip amputated by tangled cable

At approximately 11:45 a.m. on August 1, 1989, Employee #1, a crane operator and laborer, was pulling 1 in. cable through the legs of a concrete form when the cable that he was working with became coiled at the end of the concrete form. When he tried to uncoil the loop in the cable, the coil became tighter and the loop flipped around the tip of his ring finger, amputating it. He was given first aid to stop the bleeding and transported to the company doctor in Crofton, MD.
