Employee injured in fall from unsecured deck railing

At approximately 10:00 a.m. on June 7, 1994, Employee #1, who was cleaning construction debris from a second floor apartment, went outside onto a 4 ft by 9 ft deck to take a break. When the employee leaned on the wrought iron railing, which had not been anchored into the wall, the railing with the employee fell 9 ft to the ground. Employee #1 suffered internal injuries and was transported to the hospital.
