Employee drowns in one foot of water in ditch

Employee #1 was removing brush from the side of a ditch containing one ft of water when he fell. Workers from another company found him lying face down in the water and pulled him out. Employee #1 was alive, but not conscious, when emergency medical personnel transported him to the hospital; he died a week later from multiple organ failure and sepsis.
