Employee killed in fall from silo

At approximately 11:00 a.m. on March 4, 1997, Employee #1 was loading corn into the semi- truck of an independent driver for a delivery to another company. He attached a portable hook ladder to a fixed ladder on the silo. The driver saw Employee #1 climbing the ladder and drove his truck forward to a better position, unaware that Employee #1 had fallen into the vehicle's path. The coroner stated that the head injuries sustained in the fall would have killed Employee #1 even if the truck had not driven over his abdomen.
