Employee in excavation is fatally struck by falling backhoe
Two employees were stomping down dirt in a excavation that measured 17 feet wide by 26 feet long by 5 feet deep. While the operator of a backhoe was retracking its outrigger, the backhoe moved backward, fell into the excavation, and struck Employee #1. He died.
