Employee amputates fingers in snowblower

At 9:20 a.m. on February 2, 1989, Employee #1 was operating a Gilson ST 422 snowblower when plastic strapping became caught in the machine. He turned the machine OFF, took it into a building, and removed all the strapping. He started the machine again, but after a few minutes it stopped. The employee then saw a piece of strapping in the blower stack. As he tried to pull it out, his right hand became caught and his little, ring, and index fingertips and his middle finger to the first joint were amputated.
