EMPLOYEE FRACTURES PELVIS WHEN PINNED BY SUBFLOOR

EMPLOYEE #1 WAS ASSIGNED BY HIS SUPERVISOR TO GO TO THE STORAGE YARD, WHERE AN OLD STORAGE SHED HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY DEMOLISHED BY SOMEONE ELSE. THE SUBFLOOR, WHICH MEASURED APPROXIMATELY 7 FEET LONG BY 7 FEET WIDE BY 20 FEET LONG AND WEIGHED APPROXIMATELY 1,000 POUNDS WAS LYING UP AGAINST AN OLD ABANDONED PANEL TRUCK. EMPLOYEE #1 WAS WORKING WITH THE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR, PICKING UP TRASH AND OTHER DEBRIS BY THE SUBFLOOR. A GUST OF WIND CAME ALONG AND BLEW THE SUBFLOOR OVER, CAUSING IT TO FALL ONTO EMPLOYEE #1 AND PIN HIM. PARAMEDICS ARRIVED AND TRANSPORTED EMPLOYEE #1 TO THE HOSPITAL. THE EMPLOYEE SUSTAINED AN UNSTABLE COMPOUND FRACTURE TO HIS PELVIS.
