Employee bruised when struck by girder after fall off ladder

Employee #1 was one of four workers attempting to lift and place a girder truss, 40 ft long by 52 in. high and weighing approximately 225 lb, in two beam pockets in the gable end walls, which had three braces each double nailed with 16s. The four workers were equally spaced approximately 10 ft apart, with one on each end at the gable walls on stepladders, and two in the middle of the second floor using Y truss braces. The four workers lifted the girder truss and the two end workers ascended the stepladders three to four steps, raising the truss approximately 8 ft. They got Employee #1's south end in the beam pocket slot and were bending the springy truss to locate the north end when the south end kicked out and sprang back, knocking down the south gable wall. Employee #1 fell off the stepladder 3 to 4 ft to the second level and the girder truss fell on him, bruising his chest. The weather was clear and calm.
