Employee's finger cut when caught in conveyor

Employee #1, a shipping foreman, was attempting to climb atop a 36 in. long and 30 ft wide conveyor that was not running. He placed his left hand at the side of the pressure plate, which then depressed. His left little finger was accidentally caught between the plate and the side wall of the conveyor. He pulled his finger out, was rendered first aid, and was sent to the hospital, where he was treated and released.
