Investigation Summary
ON NOVEMBER 6, 1987 EMPLOYEES #1 THROUGH #4 SUFFERED THE EFFECTS OF AN EXPOSURE TO AN UNKNOWH "INDUSTRIAL" GAS. ALL FOUR EMPLOYEES WORKED IN THE POLYVINYL CHLORIDE MOLDING OPERATION. SCREENING SAMPLES AND FULL SHIFT SAMPLING FOR VINYL CHLORIDE DID NOT INDICATE ANY OVER EXPOSURE. DETECTION TUBE READINGS WHERE TAKEN FOR CARBON MONOXIDE, HYDROGEN CHLORIDE, CHLORINE, AND TOLUENE. NO OVER EXPOSURE TO ANY OF THESE SUBSTANCES WAS INDICATED. THE SOURCE OF THE INDUSTRIAL GAS IS UNKNOWN. THERE WERE NO PHYSICAL PROBLEMS EXPERIENCED BY ANY EMPLOYEES DURING THE FULL SHIFT SAMPLING.
