Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 688622
Event: 10/06/1994
ELECTRIC SHOCK - CONTACT WITH OVERHEAD LINE THRU SCAFFOLD

Three employees were moving a mobile scaffold. (The 24-foot-tall scaffold was being used for installing metal sheeting on a building under construction.) The ground near the building was rough and muddy, and the employees were taking a roundabout path to reach their destination. One of the employees was operating a forklift that was being used to transport the scaffold; the other two employees were pushing it. The scaffold contacted an 11.5-kilovolt overhead power line located about 75 feet from the building, electrocuting one of the employees pushing the scaffold. The other two employees were not injured.
