ELECTRIC SHOCK - DIRECT CONTACT WITH ENERGIZED PARTS

An employee was standing on a fiberglass stepladder, changing the ballast in an energized lighting fixture in a hospital kitchen. As he was stripping insulation from a conductor, his hand slipped forward beyond the plastic coating on the handle of the wire stripper. At the same time, his back contacted a grounded, ceiling-mounted conveyor for food tray carts. The employee was electrocuted.
