CONSTRUCTION EMPLOYEE KILLED IN FALL THROUGH SKYLIGHT

EMPLOYEE #1 WAS ASSISTING ANOTHER EMPLOYEE IN REMOVING BUILT UP ROOFING FROM AROUND 9 DOMED WHITE OPAQUE PLASTIC 4 FEET BY 4 FEET SKYLIGHTS ON THE FLAT ROOF OF A SHOPPING MALL. HE WAS RETURNING FROM DUMPING A TRASH CART WHEN HE APPARENTLY TRIPPED ON HIS OVER-LONG TROUDER LEG. HE TRIED TO BREAK HIS FALL AGAINST THE NEAREST SKYLIGHT, BUT IT CRACKED AND BROKE, CAUSING HIM TO FALL 18 1/2 FEET TO A CONCRETE SURFACE. HE DIED OF SEVERE HEAD AND NECK INJURIES.
